Voiceless People's Choice! Awards
Technology comes to animal protection with an iPhone app and cooking ‘webisodes’ among this year’s finalists for the Voiceless People’s Choice! Awards.
Other finalists include a children’s book about factory farming and a study into whether animals experience grief.
If you have you ever wanted to be part of an organisation that helps animals here’s your chance! By voting for your favourite in the Voiceless People’s Choice! Award you can have your say in what Voiceless does and which projects receive funding.
The annual Voiceless Grants Program has seen over $1 million given to organisations for inspirational animal protection activities over the past six years. The People’s Choice! Award is your chance to be part of Voiceless’s work in funding projects that help animals in Australia. This $10,000 grant, awarded to the project which receives the most public votes, is funded by public donations throughout the year.
The four finalists for the People’s Choice! Award are:
- a rhyming children’s picture book about a hen who escapes from a battery cage to find a better life in a backyard hen house
- a book, eBook, and Android and iPhone apps that deliver up-to-date information about cruelty-free food, drinks, cosmetics and suppliers
- a scientific investigation into whether animals experience grief
- a series of five-minute webisodes each containing a delicious vegan recipe and an important animal protection message
Voting for the People’s Choice! Award opens on the Voiceless website today and runs until noon on Monday 20 September. Voting only takes 30 seconds, so to find out more about each of the projects and to vote for your favourite, please go to www.voiceless.org.au/pc2010. Tell all your friends to vote too!
The winner will be announced at the red carpet Voiceless Awards Event on 2 December at Sydney Town Hall, along with all other Grant and Media Prize recipients.
