Seven years and still not equal! - Anniversary Rally for Marriage Equality

Aug 13 2011 13:00

LOCATION:    Forrest Place, Murray Street Mall, Perth CBD
TIME:             Saturday August 13th, 1 - 3pm

Seven years since the Howard Government’s ban on same-sex marriage - WA Community members are still out, loud and proud against queerphobia and discrimination.

One day after the sixth year anniversary of the marriage ban, activists and community members all over the country will gather together to show their commitment to equality, in actions just like this, in every major city.

Wear bright colours, and join Equal Love for the biggest event of the year in support of ALL loving relationships being recognised equally under the law. In this Federal Election year, by standing together and showing our support publicly, we can convince the government that our community believes in marriage equality for all Australians.

The event will feature speakers from prominent community groups - including Greens Spokesperson on Sexuality Hon Lynn MacLaren MLC and GALE Co-convenor Shane Cucow - as well as performances from local musicians and drag-artist Swish Eveready.
