POINT PERON — MARINA PROPOSAL
Hon LYNN MacLAREN to the minister representing the Minister for Planning:
I refer to planning proposals to develop a marina at Point Peron.
(1) Who are the opponents of this proposed development?
(2) Is the minister concerned at the evident inequality between the resources of a proponent, Cedar Woods
Properties and LandCorp with $4.3 million, and the resources of those who oppose the project, Preserve
Point Peron Inc, a community group with less than $1 000 in its bank account but with a huge public
following?
(3) Is the minister also concerned about the possible implications for the public perception of the credibility
and validity of the community consultation for this project?

Hon ROBYN McSWEENEY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question.
(1) The member should refer to part (2) of her question, because in that she obviously named the
proponent.
(2) No.
(3) There has been, and continues to be, extensive consultation undertaken with the community on this
project, both informally and formally through the environmental and planning processes.
