HMB Endeavour welcome in Fremantle
Lynn says it was a great moment to watch HMB Endeavour replica coming through the heads on her return to Fremantle. While she is housed at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney I still think Fremantle is her true home. However her visit here is not Sydney’s loss, because that other Fremantle built replica the Duyfken has taken her place in Darling Harbour during the Endeavour’s circumnavigation of Australia.
She was launched into fishing boat harbour on 9 December 1993 and since then sailed back to her ancestral home of Whitby arriving to the biggest reception the town has ever seen.
Take this chance to take a tour of Captain Cook’s ship and get a feel for life on the high seas in 1766, but be quick she is heading to Bunbury, last open day in Fremantle is 1 November.
